Thats the problem these days, its hard to even find a truck that has a stick unless you special order it. I hate automatics.

I've worried about mine since I bought it. Only once has it failed to engage and that was after not using it for a year. I tried it a day later and it engaged.
Do they even make a vehicle with the shifter on the floor anymore? I haven't been in a Dodge in a long time, so I can't remember what they use. I know most Fords have the dial on the dash. </div></div>
I try to kick my 4-wheel in daily, just for a few hundred yards. But right on time, during the last little snow, it decided to stop working. However , so did the HVAC controls, so it was a vacuum problem- finding and changing to hose that was leaking took about an hour. Some companies make a kit to change from vac to a small cable on this model Blazer. Tempting, but I hate to part with 200 bucks.
The ford rangers used to be really bad for that. An ASE service technician at ford told me the biggest reason for that was because the solenoid that engages the 4WD pulls too many amps for the breaker that is dedicated to it. Finally got tired of it and bought an S10, now I have no problem.
I usually buy older vehicles to drive to work, this one is an s-10 blazer . I've had as much trouble from it in 18 months as anything I ever owned. This will be my last GM in all likeyhood. The SUV before was a Pathfinder, paid 3400 bucks for it and drove it to work for 5 years, should have bought an engine and kept it, I guess.

Yeah shooter its sort of sad. I about wish I had bought the wife a stick Escape I found new a couple of years ago. It was nice and you get a little better mileage out of a manual transmission.
Most of the carriers I work with have an S-10 Blazer or pick-up. We're talking tens of thousands of miles between us in a year. Other than normal maintenance issues, we've had pretty good service out of them. There's nothing tougher on a vehicle than a mail route.
I prefer Blazers from 96-2003. If mine blew up tomorrow, I really couldn't complain. 175,000 mail route miles probably equals 900,000 normal driving miles.
my blazer was an 87. It had the 2.8 in it. about the only issue I had was had to replace the engine once. I think I had almost 200,000 when I traded it in for a 97 Explorer. I gotta say the explorer doesn't hold a candle to the Blazer for getting around in bad weather. Oh yeah, the old Blazers had a rust problem around the wheel well and rocker pannel's.
4. something V-6. 1999. I just get tired of the same stuff- window motor, rear hatch quit opening , 2 vacuum hoses, 2 winters in a row. Perhaps I got a lemon.

Mine is a 2000 and the button on the back stopped working about 2.5 years after I bought it (sometime in 05).
